New Hires in Podcast Video

The Video desk is thrilled to welcome Sophie Erickson and Felice León to the Podcast Video team.

Sophie has joined as a senior producer, where she will oversee the editorial, production and stylistic components of video for “The Daily” and other audio shows in the newsroom. Her strong background in news and deep understanding of podcast video production will bring fresh visual approaches to our video formats and techniques.

Before joining The Times, Sophie was a senior producer on AppleTV+’s “The Problem With Jon Stewart,” where she launched and produced a weekly news podcast, oversaw daily editorial operations for audio, and collaborated across teams to cover topics from gun violence to veterans’ health to government bailouts. The show earned three Emmy nominations, and led directly to legislative reform with the PACT Act.

Previously, Sophie was a supervising producer at Vox Media, where she led audio and video teams, scaled production of news and enterprise content, and developed editorial programming and strategies. She is a Minnesota native and graduate of Earlham College.

Felice has joined as a senior video journalist, leading video production and post-production on “Cannonball With Wesley Morris.” Before joining The Times full-time, she worked with us on “The Interview” as the senior video journalist to build out the show’s video presence, language and strategy.  She will work with reporters, editors and external collaborators to establish and execute on a vision for podcast video work that enhances our report.

Felice joins from DCP Entertainment, where she was an executive producer of “Lemme Say This,” a pop-culture show from Wondery, and WNYC, where she was a producer on “Notes from America” with Kai Wright. An award-winning multimedia journalist and a 2022 Nieman Journalism Fellow at Harvard University, Felice was previously a video producer and presenter at The Root magazine, where she focused on stories at the intersection of race, ethnicity and popular culture.

Felice is a graduate of the Columbia Journalism School.
